Abstract
This disclosure describes an on-board oxygen generating system (OBOGS) using open loop control. An example OBOGS includes a concentrator comprising at least two beds and a controller. Each bed has a valve to pneumatically couple the bed between a supply gas source and a vent; The controller receives at least one input signal from at least one sensor aboard an aircraft, and determines a predicted oxygen concentration output from the at least two beds into the based on the received input signals. The controller controls the valves of the at least two beds based on the determined predicted oxygen concentration to adjust charge/vent ratios of the at least two beds.

An on-board oxygen generating system comprising:
- a concentrator comprising at least two beds, each bed having a valve to pneumatically couple the bed between a supply gas source and a vent;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- receive at least one input signal from at least one sensor aboard an aircraft;
- determine a predicted oxygen concentration output from the at least two beds based on the received input signals;
- and
- control the valves of the at least two beds based on the determined predicted oxygen concentration to adjust charge/vent ratios of the at least two beds.
A method to control an on-board oxygen generating system, the method comprising:
- receiving input signals from sensors aboard an aircraft;
- determining a predicted oxygen concentration output from a concentrator comprising at least two beds based on the received input signals, each of the at least two beds having a valve to pneumatically couple the bed between a supply gas source and a vent;
- and
- controlling the valves of the at least two beds based on the determined predicted oxygen concentration to adjust charge/vent ratios of the at least two beds.
A controller for an on-board oxygen generating system comprising:
- a valve control circuit to operate valves of multiple beds, each of the valves configured to pneumatically couple the corresponding bed between a supply gas source and a vent;
- and
- control circuitry configured to:
- receive at least one input signal from at least one sensor aboard an aircraft;
- determine a predicted oxygen concentration output from the at least two beds into the based on the received input signals;
- and
- control, via the valve control circuitry, the valves of the beds based on the determined predicted oxygen concentration to adjust charge/vent ratios of the beds.
