Abstract
Disclosed is a method for making a shelf-stable organic compound in a more water-soluble form, the higher-solubility form being provided in liquid and/or powder. The method utilizes a surfactant solution comprising lecithin, water, and at least one polysaccharide into which at least one limited-solubility organic compound is admixed to form a dispersion.
Claims17
A method for making a shelf-stable composition comprising at least one limited-solubility organic compound, the method comprising the steps of
- a) combining lecithin, water, and at least one polysaccharide to form a surfactant solution;
- b) admixing at least one limited-solubility organic compound with the surfactant solution to form a target compound dispersion;
- and
- c) homogenizing the dispersion to produce a target compound colloidal dispersion,
- wherein the target compound colloidal dispersion provides the limited-solubility organic compound in a more water-soluble form.
A composition comprising at least one limited-solubility organic compound, lecithin, and at least one polysaccharide selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides with a dextrose equivalent (DE) value of from about 4.0 to about 12.0, polysaccharides with a bound galacturonic acid value of less than about 6 g/100 g, and combinations thereof, wherein the composition provides the organic compound in a form that has increased solubility in aqueous solution.
