Abstract
In an aspect, a UE obtains a plurality of positioning reference signal (PRS) configurations. The UE receives, from a BS, an L1 or L2 message that indicates one of the plurality of PRS configurations, which in turn triggers an aperiodic or semi-periodic PRS procedure in accordance with the indicated PRS configuration.

A method of operating a user equipment (UE), comprising:
- obtaining a plurality of positioning reference signal (PRS) configurations;
- receiving an L1 or L2 message that indicates one of the plurality of PRS configurations;
- and
- triggering an aperiodic or semi-periodic PRS procedure in accordance with the indicated PRS configuration.

A method of operating a base station, comprising:
- transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), an L1 or L2 message that indicates one of a plurality of positioning reference signal (PRS) configurations so as to trigger an aperiodic or semi-periodic PRS procedure;
- and
- performing the aperiodic or semi-periodic PRS procedure in accordance with the indicated PRS configuration.
A user equipment (UE), comprising:
- a memory;
- at least one transceiver;
- and
- at least one processor communicatively coupled to the memory and the at least one transceiver, the at least one processor configured to:
- obtain a plurality of positioning reference signal (PRS) configurations;
- receive, via the at least one transceiver, an L1 or L2 message that indicates one of the plurality of PRS configurations;
- and
- trigger an aperiodic or semi-periodic PRS procedure in accordance with the indicated PRS configuration.

- at least one transceiver;

- at least one processor communicatively coupled to the memory and the at least one transceiver, the at least one processor configured to:
- transmit, via the at least one transceiver, to a user equipment (UE), an L1 or L2 message that indicates one of a plurality of positioning reference signal (PRS) configurations so as to trigger an aperiodic or semi-periodic PRS procedure;
- and
- perform the aperiodic or semi-periodic PRS procedure in accordance with the indicated PRS configuration.
