Abstract
An example method of memory management in a computing system having a plurality of processors includes: receiving a first memory allocation request at a memory manager from a process executing on a processor of the plurality of processors in the computing system; allocating a local memory pool for the processor from a global memory pool for the plurality of processors in response to the first memory allocation request; and allocating memory from the local memory pool for the processor in response to the first memory allocation request without locking the local memory pool.
Claims20
A method of memory management in a computing system having a plurality of processors, the method comprising:
- receiving a first memory allocation request at a memory manager from a process executing on a processor of the plurality of processors in the computing system;
- allocating a local memory pool for the processor from a global memory pool for the plurality of processors in response to the first memory allocation request;
- and
- allocating memory from the local memory pool for the processor in response to the first memory allocation request without locking the local memory pool.
A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions to be executed in a computing device to cause the computing device to carry out a method of memory management in a computing system having a plurality of processors, the method comprising:
- receiving a first memory allocation request at a memory manager from a process executing on a processor of the plurality of processors in the computing system;
- allocating a local memory pool for the processor from a global memory pool for the plurality of processors in response to the first memory allocation request;
- and
- allocating memory from the local memory pool for the processor in response to the first memory allocation request without locking the local memory pool.
A computing system, comprising:
- a hardware platform comprising a plurality of processors and a memory;
- and
- a memory manager, executing on the hardware platform, configured to receive a first memory allocation request from a process executing on a processor of the plurality of processors, allocate a local memory pool in the memory for the processor from a global memory pool in the memory for the plurality of processors in response to the first memory allocation request, and allocate memory from the local memory pool for the processor in response to the first memory allocation request without locking the local memory pool.
