Abstract
Methods and systems for wide-angle LiDAR are provided that utilize magnification optics that provide non-uniform resolution in different areas of a Field of View (FoV).
Claims20
A LiDAR system, comprising:
- an emission unit configured for emitting an optical signal that illuminates at least part of a field of view (FoV);
- magnification optics configured for receiving an optical signal that is a version of the emitted optical signal reflected from at least one object in the FoV, the magnification optics having an image point distribution function that is non-linear relative to a vertical field angle of object points in the FoV;
- and
- a sensor unit, the sensor unit being configured for processing the received optical signal and outputting a depth map of the FoV, the depth map having at least one substantially expanded zone and at least one substantially compressed zone in the vertical direction.
