Abstract
The present invention relates to isolated polypeptides having xylanase activity, catalytic domains, carbohydrate binding modules and polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides, catalytic domains or carbohydrate binding modules. The invention also relates to nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides as well as methods of producing and using the polypeptides, catalytic domains or carbohydrate binding modules.

An isolated polypeptide having xylanase activity, selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a polypeptide having at least 99% or 100% sequence identity to the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 2;
- (b) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide having at least 99% or 100% sequence identity to the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- (c) a variant of the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 comprising a substitution, deletion, and/or insertion at one or more positions;
- and (d) a fragment of the polypeptide of (a), (b), or (c) that has xylanase activity.
An isolated polypeptide comprising a catalytic domain selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a catalytic domain having at least 99% or 100% sequence identity to amino acids 20 to 341 of SEQ ID NO:
- 2;
- (b) a catalytic domain encoded by a polynucleotide having at least 99% or 100% sequence identity to nucleotides 108 to 1241 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- (c) a variant of amino acids 20 to 341 of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 comprising a substitution, deletion, and/or insertion at one or more positions;
- and (d) a fragment of the catalytic domain of (a), (b), or (c) that has xylanase activity, wherein the polypeptide optionally comprises a carbohydrate binding module.
An isolated polypeptide comprising a carbohydrate binding module operably linked to a catalytic domain, wherein the binding domain is selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a carbohydrate binding module having at least 99% or 100% sequence identity to amino acids 363 to 399 of SEQ ID NO:
- 2;
- (b) a carbohydrate binding module encoded by a polynucleotide having at least 99% or 100% sequence identity to nucleotides 1305 to 1415 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- (c) a variant of amino acids 363 to 399 of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 comprising a substitution, deletion, and/or insertion at one or more positions;
- and (d) a fragment of (a), (b), or (c) that has carbohydrate binding activity.
