A diffusiophoretic water filter has improved inlet, outlet and membrane structures. A support is also disclosed as are method for manufacturing and assembling the diffusiophoretic water filter.

A gas-driven diffusiophoretic filter comprising:
- a first membrane support having a longitudinally-extending first hollow interior;
- a gas-permeable first membrane covering the first hollow interior;
- a gas-permeable second membrane;
- a second membrane support supporting the gas-permeable second membrane,
- the first and second supports being positionable so that the first and second membrane define at least one diffusiophoretic water channel having an inlet end for accepting a colloid;
- and
- an inlet manifold extending over the first and second membrane supports to seal the inlet.
