Abstract
Based on strain data corresponding to deformation of an input apparatus that is partially elastically deformable in response to an external force applied thereto, and motion data corresponding to a motion and/or orientation of the input apparatus, a predetermined game process is executed based on the motion data while the deformation of the input apparatus is detected.

An information processing system comprising:
- an input apparatus including at least a first sensor;
- a second sensor;
- and an information processing apparatus, wherein
- the input apparatus is at least partially elastically deformable in response to an external force applied thereto, and is deformable in a direction in which two points on the input apparatus move toward each other and in a direction in which the two points move away from each other,
- the first sensor produces an output corresponding to deformation of the input apparatus,
- the second sensor produces an output corresponding to a motion and/or orientation of the second sensor,
- the information processing apparatus includes at least one processor configured to at least
- obtain first data based on the output of the first sensor and second data based on the output of the second sensor, and
- (I) execute a game process based on the second data while the first data indicates one of a first state in which the input apparatus is deformed in the direction in which the two points move toward each other and a second state in which the input apparatus is deformed in the direction in which the two points move away from each other, and (II) not execute the game process based on the second data while the first data indicates the other one of the first and second states.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored therein an information processing program executable by a computer of an information processing apparatus that performs a process using an output from an input apparatus including at least a first sensor and an output from a second sensor, wherein
- the input apparatus is at least partially elastically deformable in response to an external force applied thereto, and is deformable in a direction in which two points on the input apparatus move toward each other and in a direction in which the two points move away from each other,
- the first sensor produces an output corresponding to deformation of the input apparatus,
- the second sensor produces an output corresponding to a motion and/or orientation of the second sensor, and
- the information processing program causes the computer to execute
- obtaining first data based on the output of the first sensor and second data based on the output of the second sensor, and
- (I) executing a game process based on the second data while the first data indicates one of a first state in which the input apparatus is deformed in the direction in which the two points move toward each other and a second state in which the input apparatus is deformed in the direction in which the two points move away from each other, and (II) not executing the game process based on the second data while the first data indicates the other one of the first and second states.
An information processing apparatus for performing a process using an output from an input apparatus including at least a first sensor and an output from a second sensor, wherein
- the input apparatus is at least partially elastically deformable in response to an external force applied thereto, and is deformable in a direction in which two points on the input apparatus move toward each other and in a direction in which the two points move away from each other,
- the first sensor produces an output corresponding to deformation of the input apparatus,
- the second sensor produces an output corresponding to a motion and/or orientation of the second sensor, and
- the information processing apparatus includes at least one processor that executes
An information processing method for performing a process using an output from an input apparatus including at least a first sensor and an output from a second sensor, wherein
- the input apparatus is at least partially elastically deformable in response to an external force applied thereto, and is deformable in a direction in which two points on the input apparatus move toward each other and in a direction in which the two points move away from each other,
- the first sensor produces an output corresponding to deformation of the input apparatus,
- the second sensor produces an output corresponding to a motion and/or orientation of the second sensor, and
- the information processing method comprises:
- obtaining first data based on the output of the first sensor and second data based on the output of the second sensor;
- and
- (I) executing a game process based on the second data while the first data indicates one of a first state in which the input apparatus is deformed in the direction in which the two points move toward each other and a second state in which the input apparatus is deformed in the direction in which the two points move away from each other, and (II) not executing the game process based on the second data while the first data indicates the other one of the first and second states.
