Cinching of dilated heart muscle

A method for use at a heart of a subject, the method comprising:

• advancing a distal portion of a delivery tube into a chamber of the heart;
• via the delivery tube, advancing an implant to the heart;
• implanting the implant within the chamber such that:
• a first portion of the implant is anchored to a first site on a wall of the chamber,
• a second portion of the implant is anchored to a second site on the wall of the chamber, the implant having a mid-portion disposed longitudinally between the first portion and the second portion,
• the mid-portion extends in a curved path along the wall of the chamber between the first site and the second site, and
• an elongate contraction member of the implant cuts across the chamber between the first site and the second site;
• and
• subsequently, reshaping the chamber by reducing a direct distance between the first site and the second site by tensioning the elongate contraction member such that a length of the elongate contraction member that cuts across the chamber between the first site and the second site becomes reduced.
