Scheduling request polling for sidelink communications

A method for wireless communication at a first wireless device, comprising:

• receiving an indication of sidelink communication resources that are reserved for sidelink transmissions;
• transmitting a polling request in control information that is associated with a data transmission from the first wireless device using the sidelink communication resources;
• and
• receiving, from a second wireless device in response to the polling request, feedback comprising an indication of an availability of data for transmission to the first wireless device.

An apparatus for wireless communication at a first wireless device, comprising:

• a processor,
• memory coupled with the processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
• receive an indication of sidelink communication resources that are reserved for sidelink transmissions;
• transmit a polling request in control information that is associated with a data transmission from the first wireless device using the sidelink communication resources;
• and
• receive, from a second wireless device in response to the polling request, feedback comprising an indication of an availability of data for transmission to the first wireless device.

An apparatus for wireless communication at a first wireless device, comprising:

• a processor,
• memory coupled with the processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
• receive a polling request in control information that is associated with a data transmission from the first wireless device using sidelink communication resources that are reserved for sidelink transmissions;
• and
• transmit, to a second wireless device in response to the polling request, feedback comprising an indication of an availability of data for transmission to the second wireless device.
