Abstract
Methods and apparatuses for operation modes on unlicensed spectrum in a wireless communication system including a carrier operating with shared spectrum channel access. A method of operating a UE includes receiving a set of higher layer parameters from a BS over the carrier and determining, from the set of higher layer parameters, a first operation mode for the BS. The method further includes determining, from the set of higher layer parameters, a second operation mode for the UE and transmitting to the BS based on the second operation mode. The first operation mode and the second operation mode include information on whether channel sensing is required before transmission on the carrier operating with shared spectrum channel access.
Claims20
A base station (BS) in a wireless communication system including a carrier operating with shared spectrum channel access, the BS comprising:
- a processor configured to:
- determine a first operation mode for the BS and a second operation mode for a user equipment (UE) served by the BS, wherein the first operation mode and the second operation mode include information on whether channel sensing is required before transmission on the carrier operating with shared spectrum channel access;
- and
- indicate the first operation mode and the second operation mode in a set of higher layer parameters;
- and
- a transceiver operably connected to the transceiver, the transceiver configured to:
- transmit to the UE over the carrier based on the first operation mode;
- and
- receive from the UE over the carrier based on the second operation mode.
A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system including a carrier operating with shared spectrum channel access, the UE comprising:
- a transceiver configured to receive a set of higher layer parameters from a BS over the carrier;
- and
- a processor operably connected to the transceiver, the processor configured to:
- determine, from the set of higher layer parameters, a first operation mode for the BS;
- and
- determine, from the set of higher layer parameters, a second operation mode for the UE,
- wherein the first operation mode and the second operation mode include information on whether channel sensing is required before transmission on the carrier operating with shared spectrum channel access, and
- wherein the transceiver further configured to transmit to the BS based on the second operation mode.
A method of operating a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system including a carrier operating with shared spectrum channel access, the method comprising:
- receiving a set of higher layer parameters from a BS over the carrier;
- determining, from the set of higher layer parameters, a first operation mode for the BS;
- determining, from the set of higher layer parameters, a second operation mode for the UE;
- and
- transmitting to the BS based on the second operation mode,
- wherein the first operation mode and the second operation mode include information on whether channel sensing is required before transmission on the carrier operating with shared spectrum channel access.
