Abstract
A display frame for a mobile device includes a first display frame section and a second display frame section. A flexible hinge section couples the first display frame section and the second display frame section. The flexible hinge section enables the first and second display frame sections to bend relative to each other. A first wall is contiguous with the first display frame section, the flexible hinge section, and the second display frame section. The first wall is integral to the first display frame section, the flexible hinge section, and the second display frame section.
Claims20
A display frame comprising:
- a first display frame section and a second display frame section;
- a flexible hinge section coupling the first display frame section and the second display frame section, the flexible hinge section enabling the first and second display frame sections to bend relative to each other;
- a first wall that is contiguous with the first display frame section, the flexible hinge section, and the second display frame section, the first wall being integral to the first display frame section, the flexible hinge section, and the second display frame section, the first wall being an upper wall;
- a first side wall extending perpendicularly downward from the upper wall in the first display frame section;
- and
- a second side wall extending perpendicularly downward from the upper wall in the second display frame section;
- wherein the first and second display frame sections each have an L-shaped cross-section, enabling each frame section to be generally rigid and to resist bending.
A mobile device comprising:
- a housing;
- a flexible display coupled to the housing, the flexible display having an outer peripheral edge;
- and
- a display frame coupled to the housing, the display frame comprising:
- a first display frame section and a second display frame section;
- a flexible hinge section coupling the first display frame section and the second display frame section, the flexible hinge section enabling the first and second display frame sections to bend relative to each other;
- a first wall that is contiguous with the first display frame section, the flexible hinge section and the second display frame section, the first wall being integral to the first display frame section, the flexible hinge section, and the second display frame section, the first wall being an upper wall;
- a first side wall extending perpendicularly downward from the upper wall in the first display frame section;
- and
- a second side wall extending perpendicularly downward from the upper wall in the second display frame section;
- wherein the first and second display frame sections each have an L-shaped cross-section enabling each frame section to be generally rigid and to resist bending.
A method of manufacturing a mobile device comprising:
- dispensing a first adhesive into a cavity of a housing;
- inserting a flexible display into the cavity;
- curing the first adhesive;
- dispensing a second adhesive into a groove of the housing;
- positioning a display frame over the flexible display and the housing;
- pressing the display frame down onto the housing;
- and
- curing the second adhesive.
