Abstract
This disclosure relates to compositions including a poly-alkene maleic anhydride copolymer, a PEG, and a crosslinker selected from an ethyleneamine, a benzenetricarboxylic acid, a benzimidazole, and combinations thereof. The poly-alkene maleic anhydride copolymer includes repeat units I and II: where R1, R1′, R2, and R2′ are each independently selected from —H and —(C1-C5)alkyl. The disclosure also provides methods of treating a subterranean formation or cement construction using the compositions.
Claims32
A composition comprising:
- a poly-alkene maleic anhydride copolymer comprising repeat units I and II:
- wherein R1, R1′, R2, and R2′ are each independently selected from —H and —(C1-C5)alkyl;
- a polyethylene glycol (PEG);
- and
- a crosslinker selected from an ethyleneamine, a benzenetricarboxylic acid, a benzimidazole, and combinations thereof.
A composition comprising:
- about 20 wt % to about 30 wt % of a poly-alkene maleic anhydride copolymer comprising:
- repeat units I and II:
- wherein repeat unit I is selected from:
- and combinations thereof;
- and
- about 5 wt % to about 15 wt % of a polyethylene glycol (PEG);
- and
- a crosslinker selected from an ethyleneamine, a benzenetricarboxylic acid, a benzimidazole, and combinations thereof,
- wherein the pH of the composition is between about 12 to about 15.
A method of treating a subterranean formation or cement construction comprising:
- providing to the subterranean formation or cement construction a composition comprising:
- a poly-alkene maleic anhydride copolymer comprising:
- repeat units I and II:
- wherein R1, R1′, R2, and R2′ are each independently selected from —H and —(C1-C5)alkyl;
- a polyethylene glycol (PEG);
- and
- a crosslinker selected from an ethyleneamine, a benzenetricarboxylic acid, a benzimidazole, and combinations thereof;
- and
- crosslinking the composition to form a sealant.
