Abstract
Methods and apparatus to power a crane on a work truck using an engine-powered service pack are disclosed. An example auxiliary power system for a vehicle includes an engine, a generator configured to convert mechanical energy from the engine to electrical energy, and power conversion circuitry configured to provide electrical power to a crane to enable the crane to lift at least a portion of a rated load, and configured to convert the electrical energy from the generator to output DC power.
Claims20
An auxiliary power system for a vehicle, comprising:
- an engine;
- a generator configured to convert mechanical energy from the engine to electrical energy;
- and
- a battery charging circuit configured to:
- receive the electrical energy from the generator;
- generate output power in a plurality of modes, wherein the battery charging circuit is coupled to a battery and configured to charge the battery, and coupled to the crane to power the crane;
- generate output power to charge the battery according to a first, second, or third mode of the plurality of modes;
- and
- generate output power to power the crane according to the first mode.
An auxiliary power system for a vehicle, comprising:
- a battery charging circuit configured to:
- receive electrical energy from a generator;
- generate output power in a plurality of modes, wherein the battery charging circuit is coupled to a battery and configured to charge the battery, and coupled to the crane to power the crane;
- generate output power to charge the battery according to a first, second, or third mode of the plurality of modes;
- and
- generate output power to power the crane according to the first mode wherein the output power for the first, second, and third modes of the plurality of modes corresponds to a first, second, and third current amount, respectively.
