Abstract
Provided are methods for inducing immune tolerance to antigens including therapeutic antigens. The present methods comprise administering to an individual OPLS or other lipidic compositions and the antigen, either in a single formulation or as separate formulations where the separate formulations are administered concomitantly or sequentially.
Claims16
A method for inducing immune tolerance toward an antigen comprising:
- a) providing a first composition comprising O-phospho-L-serine (OPLS), and a second composition comprising the antigen, wherein the first composition is substantially free of the antigen and the second composition is substantially free of OPLS;
- b) administering the first and the second compositions separately through a cutaneous route to an individual;
- wherein the two compositions are administered within two inches of each other and within thirty minutes of each other;
- wherein administration of OPLS and the antigen results in induction of immune tolerance in the individual toward the antigen.
A method for inducing immune tolerance toward an antigen comprising:
- a) obtaining dendritic cells from the individual;
- b) contacting the dendritic cells with OPLS and the antigen;
- and
- c) returning the dendritic cells to the individual,
- wherein after return of the dendritic cells to the individual, the individual develops specific immune tolerance to the antigen.
A kit for inducing immune tolerance comprising:
- a) a composition comprising OPLS, which is substantially free of the antigen;
- b) instructions for administration of the OPLS and an antigen via a cutaneous route;
- and
- c) optionally, administration devices for administration of OPLS and/or the antigen via a cutaneous route.
