Compositions comprising melatonin and/or derivatives thereof for topical application to the skin for use in the treatment of photosensitivity of whatever cause are described.

A method of treating skin photosensitivity of a subject in need thereof comprising topically administering to said subject a composition comprising
- melatonin
- and
- dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).
