Abstract
An application software program (app) which uses camera hardware on a device to process one or more images and/or video for the purposes of observing mood status and changes in mood status and intensity, displaying mood graphically and tracking it through time, and possibly taking action, suggesting action, communicating to others, or alerting others.

An application for an electronic computing device, comprising the steps of:
- capturing a first facial image of a person at a first time;
- capturing a second facial image of a person at a second time;
- evaluating a change in the first and second facial images;
- determining, using the evaluated change, a mood characteristic;
- and
- taking an action based on the determined mood characteristic.
