A light emitting apparatus includes a light emitting element for emitting light specified by a spectrum having a peak wavelength in a wavelength range from 360 nm to 430 nm, and a wavelength conversion member for converting at least a portion of light emitted by the light emitting element into light specified by a spectrum having a peak wavelength in a wavelength range from 360 nm to 780 nm. The light emitting apparatus emits illumination light formed by a combination of light that is not converted by the wavelength conversion member, from among light emitted by the light emitting element, and light that is converted by the wavelength conversion member. A total energy of light having a wavelength in a range from 360 to 430 nm is between 3% and 18% of a total energy of light having a wavelength included in a range from 360 nm to 780 nm.
