Abstract
A girth weld coating machine has an application head rotatable about a pipeline. A reservoir of coating material is carried on the application head and progressively dispenses coating material on to the girth weld. The coating material is applied to the pipe surface by a roller to spread and distribute the coating over the surface.

A dispensing unit for a coating machine to apply a coating to an exterior surface of an elongate structure, said dispensing unit including a bag to contain a coating material, a nozzle at one end of said bag and a roller to receive coating material from said nozzle and apply it to said exterior surface.
A coating machine to apply a coating to an exterior surface of a tubular structure, said coating machine comprising a support structure to mount said coating machine to said structure and an application head encompassing said structure to apply a coating material to the exterior surface of the structure, said application head including a platform spaced from said exterior surface and moveable about the circumference of said tubular structure and a dispensing unit carried by said platform and operable to dispense a coating material on to said exterior surface, said dispensing unit including a bag to contain a coating material, a nozzle at one end of said bag and an application roller to receive coating material from said nozzle and apply it to said exterior surface.
