## Abstract

A system is provided that permits the use of classification information that can be interpreted by a computer system. To this end, a system and method may be provided for creating classification information that may be interpreted by a computer system. Such classification information may be associated with content, and permit a computer system to process the content based on the classification information. In one example, classification information may be associated by a user, system, or process with a portion of content, and a computer system processes the content based on the classification information. For instance, the classification information may cause content to be processed in a particular way, be presented to a user by a particular application program, cause the content to be forwarded to a particular user, or otherwise influence how the content is handled.

## Claims

### Claim 1

(canceled)

### Claim 2

A computer-implemented method, comprising:
receiving a request from a first user to subscribe to Uniform Resource Locators (“URLs”) collected from a second user of a plurality of users, wherein the second user is different than the first user;
collecting information corresponding to a URL of a Web page posted by the second user; and
in response to the request from the first user and the information collected from the second user, sending, for presentation to the first user, at least a portion of the information corresponding to the URL of the Web page.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The computer-implemented method of claim 2, wherein the URL is included in a bookmark data collected from the second user.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The computer-implemented method of claim 3, wherein the bookmark data includes a tag that specifies how information from the Web page of the URL will be presented.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The computer-implemented method of claim 2, wherein collecting further includes:
collecting a ranking data that indicates a ranking of the URL among a plurality of URLs for a plurality of Web pages.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The computer-implemented method of claim 2, further comprising:
receiving a classification data for the URL.

### Claim 7

One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions which, when processed by one or more processors, cause at least:
collecting, over one or more networks from a plurality of users, Uniform Resource Locators (“URL”) of a plurality of Web pages posted by the plurality of users;
receiving a request from a first user to subscribe to URLs collected from a second user of the plurality of users, wherein the second user is different than the first user; and
in response to the request, sending, for presentation to the first user, an indication of a URL collected from the second user.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 7, further comprising additional instructions which, when processed by the one or more processors, cause at least:
providing a subscription feature that allows the first user to subscribe to URLs collected from the second user.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 8, wherein the subscription feature allows the first user to subscribe to URLs collected from the second user and subscribe to URLs collected from a third user of the plurality of users.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 7, wherein the URL is included in a bookmark data collected from the second user.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 7, further comprising additional instructions which, when processed by the one or more processors, cause at least:
collecting, from the second user, one or more tags corresponding to the URL.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 11, wherein the one or more tags specify how information from a Web page of the URL will be presented.

### Claim 13 (depends on 7)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 7, further comprising additional instructions which, when processed by the one or more processors, cause at least:
collecting a ranking data of the URL among a plurality of URLs.

### Claim 14 (depends on 7)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 7, further comprising additional instructions which, when processed by the one or more processors, cause at least:
allowing the first user to view URLs collected from the second user.

### Claim 15 (depends on 7)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 7, further comprising additional instructions which, when processed by the one or more processors, cause at least:
receiving classification data selected for the URL; and
storing the classification data with the URL.

### Claim 16 (depends on 7)

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media as recited in claim 7, further comprising additional instructions which, when processed by the one or more processors, cause at least:
storing one or more of the URL, a description of the URL, a keyword corresponding to the URL, a URL address for the URL, a ranking of the URL, a classification of the URL, or an indicator of how many other users have bookmarked the URL.

### Claim 17

A system, comprising:
one or more processors: and
a memory storing program instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to at least:
receive a request from a first user to subscribe to Uniform Resource Locators (“URL”) collected from a second user;
collect information corresponding to a URL of a Web page posted by the second user; and
send, for presentation to the first user, at least a portion of the information corresponding to the URL of the Web page.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The system of claim 17, wherein the program instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to at least:
collect, from the second user, bookmark data comprising a plurality of bookmarks for a plurality of Web pages that were posted by the second user, wherein at least one bookmark data includes the URL of the Web page.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The system of claim 18, wherein the at least one bookmark data further includes one or more of a tag corresponding to the URL, a ranking data corresponding to the URL, or a classification data corresponding to the URL.

### Claim 20 (depends on 17)

The system of claim 17, wherein the program instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to at least:
provide a subscription feature that allows the first user to subscribe to information collected from the second user.

### Claim 21 (depends on 17)

The system of claim 17, wherein the program instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to at least:
store one or more of the URL, a description of the URL, a keyword corresponding to the URL, a URL address for the URL, a ranking of the URL, a classification of the URL, or an indicator of how many users of a plurality of users have bookmarked the URL.
