## Abstract

Methods and compositions utilizing 2-aminoindan derivatives collectively represented by Formula I as described and defined in the specification for regulating binge behavior, particularly binge drinking, are disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-22. (canceled)

### Claim 23

A method of regulating consumption of an alcoholic beverage, the method comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of 5-methoxy-2-aminoindan, thereby regulating consumption of the alcoholic beverage.

### Claim 24 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the consumption of the alcoholic beverage is associated with binge drinking.

### Claim 25 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the amount of alcohol consumption during a drinking session is reduced.

### Claim 26 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is administered before, simultaneously with, or subsequent to, consumption of the alcoholic beverage.

### Claim 27 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is administered simultaneously with the alcoholic beverage.

### Claim 28 (depends on 27)

The method of claim 27, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is incorporated in the alcoholic beverage.

### Claim 29 (depends on 28)

The method according to claim 28, wherein the amount of the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is in the range selected from 0.15 mg/ml to 0.60 mg/ml, 0.15 mg/ml to 0.5 mg/ml, 0.15 mg/ml to 0.40 mg/ml, 0.18 to 0.50 mg/ml, 0.18 to 0.40 mg/ml, 0.20 to 0.40 mg/ml, 0.20 to 0.30 mg/ml, 0.20 to 0.25 mg/ml, or 0.20 to 0.23 mg/ml.

### Claim 30 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt forms a part of a composition, which further comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

### Claim 31 (depends on 30)

The method of claim 30, wherein the composition is in a form of a free-flowing powder, a tablet, a capsule, a lozenge, a liquid, a liquid concentrate or a syrup.

### Claim 32 (depends on 30)

The method of claim 30, wherein the composition is a unit dosage form composition.

### Claim 33 (depends on 32)

The method of claim 32, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt in the unit dosage form is in an amount ranging from 30 mg to 130 mg.

### Claim 34 (depends on 33)

The method of claim 33, wherein the amount of the pharmaceutically acceptable salt in the composition is 70 mg.

### Claim 35 (depends on 23)

The method of claim 23, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is administered to the subject orally.

### Claim 36 (depends on 35)

The method of claim 35, wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is an acid addition salt.
