Abstract
Systems and techniques are described for dynamically configuring and/or adjusting intervals for exchanging supervision signals between a control panel and an associated server system of a monitoring system located in a property. In some implementations, sensor data generated by one or more sensors of a monitoring system is obtained. A status of the property is determined based on the sensor data. A pinging frequency of the monitoring system is adjusted based on the status of the property. The pinging frequency specifies a frequency of communications between the server system and the control unit. The control unit is then configured to communicate with the server system according to the adjusted pinging frequency.
Claims1
A monitoring system that is configured to monitor a property, the monitoring system comprising:
- one or more sensors that are located throughout the property and that are configured to generate sensor data;
- a control unit that is configured to receive, from the one or more sensors, the sensor data;
- and
- a server system that is configured to communicate with the control unit according to a pinging frequency that specifies a time period between communications between the server system and the control unit,
- wherein the control unit is configured to:
- determine a status of the property based on the sensor data;
- and
- transmit, to the server system, data indicating the status of the property, and wherein the server system is configured to:
- adjust the pinging frequency based on the status of the property;
- and
- communicate with the control unit according to the adjusted pinging frequency.
