Abstract
Fabrics made for apparel, tents, sleeping bags and the like, in various composites, constructed such that there is at least one metal layer, forming a radiant barrier to reduce heat loss via radiation from the human body, and insulating this metal layer from heat loss via conduction, and a process for its manufacture.
Claims20
A substrate construction, the construction comprising:
- a first textile layer;
- the first textile layer comprising a metal coating applied to an underside of the first textile layer;
- the metal coating with a coating thickness of 10 nm to 200 nm;
- said metal coating being in contact with a knitted spacer layer;
- wherein the knitted spacer layer comprises a plurality of fibres extending from a knitted structure.

A substrate construction, the construction comprising:
- a first substrate having a metal layer applied thereto;
- an insulating layer disposed adjacent to the first metal layer of the first substrate;
- the insulating layer comprising a knitted structure defining a plane;
- and
- wherein the insulating layer further comprises a plurality of fibres extending from the plane of the knitted structure, and in which the insulating layer is in contact with the metal layer.
