Abstract
A system for electrically powering a semi-trailer dump system includes a DC-to-DC voltage converter configured to receive input DC voltage from a battery bank and output increased DC voltage, an energy storage element configured to receive the increased DC voltage from the DC-to-DC voltage converter, a controller configured to receive DC power from the energy storage element and convert the DC power into AC power, and a motor configured to receive AC power from the controller, the motor being mechanically connectable to a pump for controlling the dumping system.
Claims20
An electrically driven dump system, comprising:
- a DC-to-DC voltage converter configured to receive input DC voltage from a battery bank at a first voltage and output DC voltage at a second, increased voltage;
- an energy storage element that receives the increased DC voltage from the DC-to-DC voltage converter;
- a controller that receives DC power from the energy storage element and converts the DC power into AC power;
- and
- a motor that receives AC power from the controller, the motor being mechanically connectable to a pump.
The electrically driven dump system of claim 112, wherein the computing system communicates with one or more sensors associated with the motor or the pump.
The electrically driven dump system of claim 132, wherein the computer-readable hardware storage media include computer-executable instructions being executable by the one or more processors to cause the computing system to provide a notification on a user interface associated with the computing system in response to detecting that a sensor reading of the one or more sensors of the system has met or exceeded a predetermined threshold value.
An electrically driven dump system, comprising:
- a DC-to-DC voltage converter configured to receive a first DC voltage from an alternator of a semi-truck and output a second, higher, DC voltage;
- an energy storage element that receives the second DC voltage from the DC-to-DC voltage converter;
- a controller that receives DC power from the energy storage element and converts the DC power into AC power, the controller coupled to one or more external controls;
- a contactor interposed between the DC-to-DC voltage converter and the controller, the contactor operable to disconnect from the controller;
- and
- a motor that receives AC power from the controller, the motor being mechanically connectable to a pump.
A method of using an electrically driven dump system, comprising:
- charging a battery bank with an alternator of a semi-truck;
- providing DC power to a DC-to-DC voltage converter to output an increased DC voltage;
- providing the increased DC voltage to an energy storage element;
- providing DC power from the energy storage element to a controller;
- converting, with the controller, the DC power provided by the energy storage element into AC power;
- providing the AC power to a motor;
- and
- driving a pump mechanically connected to the motor, with the motor.
