## Abstract

A computer device including integrated communications antennas is disclosed. In the computer device, a first antenna is disposed above a display panel in a hinge-up portion of the laptop computer, and a second antenna is disposed below the display panel. A signal divider circuit is coupled to a radio module, wherein the signal divider circuit is configured to send a first frequency range to the first antenna via a flat printed circuit radio frequency (FPC RF) cable, and a second frequency range to the second antenna.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An antenna structure for a laptop computer, comprising:
a first antenna disposed above a display panel in a hinge-up portion of the laptop computer;
a second antenna disposed below the display panel; and
a signal divider circuit coupled to a radio module, wherein the signal divider circuit is configured to send a first frequency range to the first antenna via a flat printed circuit radio frequency (FPC RF) cable, and a second frequency range to the second antenna.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The antenna structure of claim 1, wherein:
the first antenna is tuned to a frequency of less than about 3000 megahertz (MHz); and
the second antenna is tuned to a frequency of greater than about 3000 MHz.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The antenna structure of claim 1, wherein.
the first antenna is tuned to a frequency of less than about 2690 megahertz (MHz); and
the second antenna is tuned to a frequency of greater than about 3400 MHz.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The antenna structure of claim 1, wherein:
the first antenna is tuned to a frequency of less than about 3800 megahertz (MHz); and
the second antenna is tuned to a frequency of greater than about 5100 MHz.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The antenna structure of claim 1, wherein the signal divider circuit comprises an impedance matching circuit.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The antenna structure of claim 1, wherein the signal divider circuit comprises a low bandpass filter and a high bandpass filter.

### Claim 7

A method for improved radio communications, comprising:
receiving a signal from a radio module;
dividing the signal into a first frequency band and a second frequency band;
sending the first frequency band to a first antenna via a flat printed circuit radio frequency (FPC RF) cable; and
sending the second frequency band to a second antenna.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, comprising filtering the second frequency band from the signal using a low bandpass filter, leaving the first frequency band.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, comprising filtering the first frequency band from the signal using a high bandpass filter, leaving the second frequency band.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, comprising sending the second frequency band to the second antenna over a coaxial cable.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, comprising sending the signal from the radio module in a lower case of a laptop to a signal divider in an upper case of a laptop via a coaxial cable threaded through a hinge.

### Claim 12

A laptop computer having an antenna structure for communications, the antenna structure comprising:
a first antenna mounted inside an upper case of the laptop computer above a display panel;
a second antenna mounted inside the upper case below the display panel;
a signal divider circuit mounted in the upper case below the display panel;
a printed circuit radio frequency (FPC RF) cable coupling the signal divider circuit to the first antenna;
a cable coupling the signal divider circuit to the second antenna; and
a coaxial cable coupling the signal divider circuit to a radio module in a lower case of the laptop computer.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)
