## Abstract

A method for managing payment submissions includes receiving, at an acquirer computing system, an authorization request submitted by a merchant computing system for a transaction of a predefined amount, the merchant computing system being associated with a merchant, and the authorization request identifying account information for an account that is associated with a payment card network and an issuer processor; and re-transmitting the authorization request for less than the predefined amount and greater than a configurable threshold value, until the authorization request is approved by the issuer processor or until the authorization request falls below the configurable threshold value.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-20. (canceled)

### Claim 21

A method for managing recurring authorization requests for payment transactions, the method comprising:
receiving, at a payment processing computing system, an authorization request from a point of sale (POS) device for an electronic transaction, the authorization request including a transaction value;
determining, by the payment processing computing system, a configurable threshold value associated with the electronic transaction;
transmitting, by the payment processing computing system, the authorization request to an issuer processor for approving the electronic transaction for the transaction value;
upon determining that the issuer processor has declined the electronic transaction, re-transmitting, by the payment processing computing system, the authorization request to the issuer processor for approval, re-transmitting the authorization request comprising an iterative reduction of the transaction value until an approval is received from the issuer processor or a reduced transaction value falls below the configurable threshold value.

### Claim 22 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the iterative reduction of the transaction value comprises a reduction by an incremental percentage of a predefined transaction value.

### Claim 23 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the iterative reduction of the transaction value comprises a stepwise reduction by a unit value.

### Claim 24 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein re-transmitting the authorization request is based on a resubmission schedule, and the method further comprising:
determining, by the payment processing computing system, the resubmission schedule based on a partial authorization of the electronic transaction and a timing of the electronic transaction.

### Claim 25 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, further comprising:
receiving an authorization result from the issuer processor; and
updating a dataset of historical processing results using the received authorization result.

### Claim 26 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, further comprising:
transmitting, by the payment processing computing system to the POS device, indication of an approved authorization when the issuer processor approves the authorization request.

### Claim 27 (depends on 24)

The method of claim 24, wherein determining the resubmission schedule comprises:
identifying, by the payment processing computing system, a rule set associated with the electronic transaction.

### Claim 28

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations for managing recurring authorization requests for payment transactions, the operations comprising:
receiving, at a payment processing computing system, an authorization request from a point of sale (POS) device for an electronic transaction, the authorization request including a transaction value;
determining, by the payment processing computing system, a configurable threshold value associated with the electronic transaction;
transmitting, by the payment processing computing system, the authorization request to an issuer processor for approving the electronic transaction for the transaction value;
upon determining that the issuer processor has declined the electronic transaction, re-transmitting, by the payment processing computing system, the authorization request to the issuer processor for approval, re-transmitting the authorization request comprising an iterative reduction of the transaction value until an approval is received from the issuer processor or a reduced transaction value falls below the configurable threshold value.

### Claim 29 (depends on 28)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28, wherein the iterative reduction of the transaction value comprises a reduction by an incremental percentage of a predefined transaction value.

### Claim 30 (depends on 28)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28, wherein the iterative reduction of the transaction value comprises a stepwise reduction by a unit value.

### Claim 31 (depends on 28)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28, wherein re-transmitting the authorization request is based on a resubmission schedule, and the operations further comprising:
determining, by the payment processing computing system, the resubmission schedule based on a partial authorization of the electronic transaction and a timing of the electronic transaction.

### Claim 32 (depends on 28)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28, the operations further comprising:
receiving an authorization result from the issuer processor; and
updating a dataset of historical processing results using the received authorization result.

### Claim 33 (depends on 28)

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28, the operations further comprising:
transmitting, by the payment processing computing system to the POS device, indication of an approved authorization when the issuer processor approves the authorization request.

### Claim 34

A computing system for managing recurring authorization requests for payment transactions, the computing system comprising a non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
receive, at a payment processing computing system, an authorization request from a point of sale (POS) device for an electronic transaction, the authorization request including a transaction value;
determine, by the payment processing computing system, a configurable threshold value associated with the electronic transaction;
transmit, by the payment processing computing system, the authorization request to an issuer processor for approving the electronic transaction for the transaction value;
upon determining that the issuer processor has declined the electronic transaction, re-transmit, by the payment processing computing system, the authorization request to the issuer processor for approval, re-transmit the authorization request comprising an iterative reduction of the transaction value until an approval is received from the issuer processor or a reduced transaction value falls below the configurable threshold value.

### Claim 35 (depends on 34)

The system of claim 34, wherein the iterative reduction of the transaction value comprises a reduction by an incremental percentage of a predefined transaction value.

### Claim 36 (depends on 34)

The system of claim 34, wherein the iterative reduction of the transaction value comprises a stepwise reduction by a unit value.

### Claim 37 (depends on 34)

The system of claim 34, wherein re-transmitting the authorization request is based on a resubmission schedule, and wherein the instructions executed by the processor further cause the processor to:
determine, by the payment processing computing system, the resubmission schedule based on a partial authorization of the electronic transaction and a timing of the electronic transaction.

### Claim 38 (depends on 34)

The system of claim 34, wherein the instructions executed by the at least one processor further cause the at least one processor to:
receive an electronic transaction result from the issuer processor; and
update a dataset of historical processing results using the received electronic transaction result.

### Claim 39 (depends on 34)

The system of claim 34, wherein the instructions executed by the at least one processor further cause the at least one processor to:
transmit, by the payment processing computing system to the POS device, indication of an approved authorization when the issuer processor approves the authorization request.

### Claim 40 (depends on 34)

The system of claim 34, wherein the electronic transaction is one of a series of recurring transactions of a predefined transaction amount.
