## Abstract

A system and method for performing pyrolysis comprises a reactor through which organic material is conveyed from an upstream end toward a downstream end and within which said pyrolysis will occur; a combustion chamber fluidically connected to the downstream end of the reactor; an output pipe fluidically connected to the downstream end of the reactor; a capsule surrounding a first part of the reactor and into an internal portion of which heated thermal fluids are disposed for heating the first part of said reactor; and a plurality of electrical resistors disposed around a second part of the reactor for heating the second part of the reactor; whereby, as a result of the pyrolysis occurring within the reactor, the syngas is conducted toward the combustion chamber while the carbonized material is conducted outwardly from the reactor through the output pipe.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system for performing pyrolysis of organic material into syngas and carbonized material, comprising:
a reactor through which organic material is conveyed from an upstream end toward a downstream end and within which said pyrolysis will occur;
a combustion chamber fluidically connected to said downstream end of said reactor;
an output pipe fluidically connected to said downstream end of said reactor;
a capsule surrounding a first part of said reactor and into an internal portion of which heated thermal fluids are disposed for heating said first part of said reactor; and
a plurality of electrical resistors disposed around a second part of said reactor for heating said second part of said reactor;
whereby, as a result of said pyrolysis occurring within said reactor, said syngas is conducted toward said combustion chamber while said carbonized material is conducted outwardly from said reactor through said output pipe.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system as set forth in claim 1, further comprising:
an electricity generation module, fluidically connected to said combustion chamber, for producing electricity as a result of said combustion of said syngas within said combustion chamber.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The system as set forth in claim 1, further comprising:
a thermal fluid heat exchanger fluidically connected to said combustion chamber for receiving hot exhaust gases from said combustion chamber, and a pair of fluid connecting pipes respectively connecting said thermal fluid heat exchanger to upstream and downstream ends of said capsule surrounding said first part of said reactor such that hot fluid from said thermal fluid heat exchanger is conducted toward said downstream end of said capsule in order to heat said internal portion of said capsule while relatively cooler air from within said capsule is recirculated back to said thermal fluid heat exchanger so as to again be heated whereby said reheated fluid can again be conducted back to said capsule in order to again heat said internal portion of said capsule.

### Claim 4

A method for performing pyrolysis of organic material into syngas and carbonized material, comprising the steps of:
providing a reactor through which organic material is conveyed from an upstream end toward a downstream end and within which said pyrolysis will occur;
fluidically connecting a combustion chamber to said downstream end of said reactor;
fluidically connecting an output pipe to said downstream end of said reactor;
providing a capsule which surrounds a first part of said reactor and into an internal portion of which heated thermal fluids are disposed for heating said first part of said reactor; and
providing a plurality of electrical resistors which are disposed around a second part of said reactor for heating said second part of said reactor;
whereby, as a result of said pyrolysis occurring within said reactor, said syngas is conducted toward said combustion chamber while said carbonized material is conducted outwardly from said reactor through said output pipe.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method as set forth in claim 4, further comprising the step of:
fluidically connecting an electricity generation module to said combustion chamber for producing electricity as a result of said combustion of said syngas within said combustion chamber.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The method as set forth in claim 4, further comprising the step of:
fluidically connecting a thermal fluid heat exchanger to said combustion chamber for receiving hot exhaust gases from said combustion chamber, and fluidically connecting a pair of pipes respectively from said thermal fluid heat exchanger to upstream and downstream ends of said capsule surrounding said first part of said reactor such that hot fluid from said thermal fluid heat exchanger is conducted toward said downstream end of said capsule in order to heat said internal portion of said capsule while relatively cooler air from within said capsule is recirculated back to said thermal fluid heat exchanger so as to again be heated whereby said reheated fluid can again be conducted back to said capsule in order to again heat said internal portion of said capsule.
