## Abstract

The invention provides compounds represented by the general formula I wherein the substituents are defined in the application. The compounds are useful in the treatment of an affective disorder, including depression, anxiety disorders including general anxiety disorder and panic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder.

A pharmaceutical composition, comprising:
1-[2-(2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperazine or a hydrobromic acid addition salt thereof, and
at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.

The composition of claim 16, wherein the composition comprises a hydrobromic acid addition salt of 1-[2-(2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperazine.
