A protective cap to be releasably connected to a medicament delivery device having a medicament delivery member shield, the cap comprising a generally tubular body and a generally tubular medicament delivery member shield remover for removing the medicament delivery member shield, wherein the medicament delivery member shield remover comprises an attachment element on the proximal end and the protective cap comprises a lid attached to the protective cap tubular body proximal end so that the medicament delivery member shield remover is held in place in this position by the end lid being in contact with the attachment element of the medicament delivery member shield remover.
A method of assembling a protective cap comprising a generally tubular body with a proximal end wall and a generally tubular medicament delivery member shield remover, where the assembly process comprises:
- providing the proximal end of the medicament delivery member shield remover with an outwardly extending ledge;
- entering the medicament delivery member shield remover into a central passage in the end wall of the protective cap body from the proximal side until the ledge is seated on the end wall;
- providing a lid and pushing the lid onto the proximal end of the body so that the medicament delivery member shield remover is held in place in this position by the end lid.
A protective cap configured for releasable connection to a medicament delivery device having a shield covering a needle, where the protective cap comprises:
- a tubular body having a proximal end of a first diameter;
- a lid having a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter, where the lid is attached to the proximal end of the tubular body such that a circumferential gap is created between the lid and the tubular body;
- and
- a shield remover configured to remove the shield, where the shield remover is axially fixed relative to the lid and is held in place by distally directed protrusions or ledges on the lid that abut a proximal end of the shield remover,
- wherein the lid is arranged with distally directed arms that connect to the tubular body.
