Abstract
A composition for administration to an animal is provided. The composition comprises a bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus. Also provided is a method of improving or enhancing one or more characteristics of an animal by administering a composition comprising a bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus to the animal. The animal may be cattle, such as a calf. Related animals and animal products are further provided.

A method of supplementing an animal, including a step of administering at least two bacteria selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus buchneri, and Lactobacillus casei to the animal.
A composition for supplementing an animal by administration of the composition to the digestive tract of the animal, the composition comprising:
- at least two bacteria selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus buchneri, and Lactobacillus casei;
- and a sugar syrup.
