The present invention is directed to vegetative insecticidal proteins (Vips) modified to comprise heterologous carbohydrate binding modules and methods of use thereof.

A modified Vip3 polypeptide comprising a heterologous carbohydrate binding module (CBM), wherein the CBM is from a bacterial β-1,4-mannanase comprising SEQ ID NO:25 and is substituted for all or a portion of Domain III of the Vip3 polypeptide, and wherein the modified Vip3 polypeptide is pesticidal against an insect.
