Abstract
According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate opposed to the first substrate and including an end portion, a liquid crystal layer provided between the first substrate and the second substrate and including a polymer in a shape of a streak and a liquid crystal molecule, a light-emitting element having a light emitting portion opposed to the end portion, and a light guide located between the end portion and the light emitting portion.

A display comprising:
- a first substrate;
- a second substrate opposed to the first substrate;
- a liquid crystal layer including streak-like polymers provided between the first substrate and the second substrate;
- a plurality of light-emitting elements arranged along a side surface of the second substrate on the first substrate;
- and
- a light guide formed of transparent resin on the first substrate and located between the light-emitting elements and the side surface of the second substrate, wherein
- the streak-like polymers extend in the direction that the light-emitting elements are arranged,
- a first gap is between the light-emitting elements and the light guide, and
- a second gap is between the light guide and the side surface of the second substrate.

- a liquid crystal layer including streak-like polymers provided between the first substrate and the second substrate;
- a plurality of light-emitting elements arranged along a side surface of the second substrate on the first substrate;

- a first reflective layer formed on an upper surface of the light guide;

- the streak-like polymers extend in the direction that the light-emitting elements are arranged,
- a first gap is between the light-emitting elements and the light guide, and
- a second gap is between the light guide and the side surface of the second substrate.
