Abstract
Pipetting containers, such as reservoirs, reservoir liners, microplates, PCR plates, microtubes and PCR tubes, include anti-vacuum channels on the bottom wall of the receptacle to prevent a pipette tip vacuum engaging the wall during aspiration. The groupings of anti-vacuum channels are located on the bottom surface facing upward into the basin that holds liquid samples or reagents. The anti-vacuum channels also lower the required working volume for pipetting and reduce liquid waste.

A pipetting container comprising:
- a receptacle for holding liquid reagents or samples for pipetting, the receptacle having a bottom wall, and at least one grouping of interconnected anti-vacuum channels on an upper surface of the bottom wall and exposed upwardly into the receptacle in which liquid sample or liquid reagent is held for pipetting;
- wherein the measured surface tension of the upper surface of the bottom wall of the receptacle is greater than or equal to 72 dynes/cm which is the surface tension for natural water.
A PCR tube comprising:
- a tube body made of polypropylene for containing and thermocycling PCR reagents and samples, said tube body having an upper cylindrical wall, a lower tapered wall, a bottom wall located at the bottom of the lower tapered wall and a transition portion where the bottom wall transitions into the lowered tapered wall;
- wherein a grouping of interconnected anti-vacuum channels is located primarily on an upper surface of the bottom wall, said grouping of interconnected anti-vacuum channels containing a pair of perpendicular and intersecting channels with the intersection of the channels defining a center point for the grouping and a circular channel centered about the center point and intersecting each of the perpendicular and intersecting channels;
- and
- further wherein the perpendicular and intersecting channels extend beyond the bottom wall through the transition portion to the lower tapered wall and the width of the channels is 0.5 mm+/−0.1 mm when the channels are located on the bottom wall.
