Abstract
A targeting guide is disclosed includes a handle extending substantially along a longitudinal axis. The longitudinal handle defines one or more burr holes extending from a first side of the handle to a second side of the handle. A head is coupled to a distal end of the longitudinal handle. The head defines a plurality of guide holes sized and configured to receive a k-wire therethrough.
Claims20
A targeting guide, comprising:
- an arm defining at least one hole;
- a body rotatably coupled to the arm;
- an alignment element slideably coupled to the body, wherein the alignment element is translatable on a first axis;
- and
- a first locking element configured to fix a lateral position of the alignment element within respect to the body.
A method of performing an osteotomy, comprising:
- inserting a first fixation element into a first bone portion;
- slideably coupling a targeting guide to the first fixation element, wherein the first fixation element is received in a first hole defined in an arm of the targeting guide;
- slideably translating an alignment element with respect to a body, wherein the body is rotatably coupled to the arm, and wherein the alignment element is translatable on a first axis;
- locking a lateral position of the alignment element with respect to the body using a first locking element;
- inserting a second fixation element into a second bone portion, wherein the second fixation element is inserted through a second hole defined by the alignment element;
- and
- slideably removing the targeting guide from the first and second fixation elements, wherein after the targeting guide is removed the first bone portion or the second bone portion is translated to form an osteotomy.
A targeting guide, comprising:
- an arm defining a first hole and extending at least partially on a first axis, wherein the first hole is sized and configured to receive a first fixation element therethrough;
- a body coupled to the arm;
- an alignment element slideably coupled to the body, wherein the alignment element is translatable on a first axis, wherein the alignment element is rotatable about a second axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis;
- a first locking element configured to fix a lateral position of the alignment element within respect to the body.
