Abstract
Surgical systems are disclosed. Surgical systems can include evacuation systems for evacuating smoke, fluid, and/or particulates from a surgical site. A surgical evacuation system can be intelligent and may include one or more sensors for detecting one or more properties of the surgical system, evacuation system, surgical procedure, surgical site, and/or patient tissue, for example.
Claims20
A modular surgical system, comprising:
- a plurality of modular devices, comprising:
- a first power module, comprising:
- a first electrical connector;
- and
- a first plurality of energy ports, wherein each energy port is configured to supply electrosurgical energy to an electrosurgical instrument operably coupled thereto;
- a second power module, comprising:
- a second electrical connector;
- and
- a second plurality of energy ports, wherein each energy port is configured to supply electrosurgical energy to an electrosurgical instrument operably coupled thereto;
- and
- a master module comprising a third electrical connector;
- and
- a backplane, wherein the first electrical connector, the second electrical connector, and the third electrical connector are selectively coupleable with the backplane,
- wherein data signals are configured to transmit between the plurality of modular devices via the backplane;
- and
- wherein the first power module and the second power module are configured to selectively received power signals via the backplane.

A modular surgical system, comprising:
- a plurality of modular devices, comprising:
- a first power module, comprising:
- a first electrical connector;
- and
- a first plurality of energy ports, comprising:
- a first monopolar energy port, wherein the first power module is configured to provide monopolar energy through the first monopolar energy port;
- a first bipolar energy port, wherein the first power module is configured to provide bipolar energy through the first bipolar energy port;
- and
- a first ultrasonic energy port, wherein the first power module is configured to provide ultrasonic energy through the first ultrasonic energy port;
- a second power module, comprising:
- a second electrical connector;
- and
- a second plurality of energy ports;
- and
- a master module comprising a third electrical connector;
- and
- a backplane, wherein the first electrical connector, the second electrical connector, and the third electrical connector are selectively coupleable with the backplane,
- wherein data signals are configured to transmit between the plurality of modular devices via the backplane;
- and
- wherein the first power module and the second power module are configured to selectively received power signals via the backplane.
