## Claims

### Claim 1

(canceled)

### Claim 2

One or more machine-readable storage media having machine executable instructions that, when executed, cause one or more machines to perform operations comprising:
enter a low power mode for the one or more machines;
identify priorities of at least two messages for the one or more machines while in the low power mode;
hold the at least two messages for processing;
exit the low power mode and service one of the two held messages with high priority; and
re-enter the low power mode.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 2, wherein the at least two messages are held for processing so long as the one or more machines remain in the low power mode.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 2, wherein the low power mode is a sleep state.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 2, wherein the low power mode is exited periodically.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 2, wherein the one or more machines is a computer or a processor.

### Claim 7 (depends on 2)

The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 2, wherein the one or more machines are part of a mobile phone.

### Claim 8 (depends on 2)

The one or more machine-readable storage media of claim 2, wherein the machine executable instructions are part of an operating system.

### Claim 9

A mobile phone comprising:
a processor circuitry to execute instructions;
a battery coupled to the processor circuitry; and
a communication interface communicatively coupled to the processor circuitry;
a memory coupled to the processor circuitry, wherein the memory is to store the instructions, wherein the processor circuitry is to perform one of more operations when the processor circuitry executes the instructions, wherein the one or more operations include:
enter a low power mode for the processor circuitry;
identify priorities of at least two messages for the processor circuitry while in the low power mode;
hold the at least two messages for processing;
exit the low power mode and service one of the two held messages with high priority; and
re-enter the low power mode.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The mobile phone of claim 9, wherein the at least two messages are held for processing so long as the processor circuitry remains in the low power mode.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The mobile phone of claim 9, wherein the low power mode is a sleep state.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The mobile phone of claim 9, wherein the low power mode is exited periodically.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

The mobile phone of claim 9, wherein the instructions are part of an operating system.

### Claim 14 (depends on 9)

The mobile phone of claim 9, wherein the processor circuitry includes a power management unit.

### Claim 15

A method performed by an operating system executing on a mobile phone, the method comprising:
entering a low power mode for a processor circuitry;
identifying priorities of at least two messages for the processor circuitry while in the low power mode;
holding the at least two messages for processing;
exiting the low power mode and service one of the two held messages with high priority; and
re-entering the low power mode.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15, wherein the at least two messages are held for processing so long as the processor circuitry remains in the low power mode.

### Claim 17 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15, wherein the low power mode is a sleep state.

### Claim 18 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15, wherein the low power mode is exited regularly.

### Claim 19 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15, wherein the processor circuitry includes a power management unit.

### Claim 20 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15 comprising collecting information from one or more devices or applications external to the mobile phone.

### Claim 21 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15 comprising estimating or predicting an idle duration for the machine according to the collected information, wherein estimating or predicting the idle duration comprises applying an exponential filter to predict incoming idleness based on past history of idleness duration.
