Abstract
Mammalian cell lines genetically engineered to have reduced or eliminated expression of specific host cell proteins, and methods for using the engineered mammalian cell lines for the production of recombinant proteins having low levels of residual host cell protein contamination.
Claims28
A process for producing a recombinant protein product having a reduced level of host cell protein contamination, the process comprising
- (a) expressing a recombinant protein in a mammalian cell line engineered to have reduced or eliminated expression of at least one host cell protein;
- and
- (b) purifying the recombinant protein to form the recombinant protein product, wherein the recombinant protein product has a level of residual host cell protein that is lower than that in a protein product produced by a non-engineered parental mammalian cell line.
