Abstract
A simulated environment includes a motion control system. The motion control system comprises a suspension structure, a housing slidably engaged to the suspension structure such that the suspension controller translates in a planar manner relative to the suspension structure. A rotary component is rotatably attached to the housing. A plurality of winches are attached to the rotary component, the plurality of winches having cables to allow longitudinal movement of the cables parallel to a force of gravity.
Claims20
A motion control system comprising:
- a suspension structure;
- a marionette assembly comprising:
- a housing slidably engaged to the suspension structure such that the housing translates in a planar manner relative to the suspension structure,
- a rotary component rotatably attached to the housing, such that the rotary component rotates around an axis of the housing;
- a plurality of winches with cables, the plurality of winches attached to the rotary component to allow movement of the cables;
- a dampening mechanism through which the cables pass, the dampening mechanism to dampen or completely halt the movement of the cables;
- and
- a navigation controller to control the movement of the housing, rotary component, the plurality of winches with cables, the dampening mechanism to provide a controlled movement of the marionette assembly.
A motion control system comprising:
- a suspension structure;
- a marionette assembly slidably engaged to the suspension structure such that translational movement of the marionette assembly is possible in at least two dimensions, the marionette assembly including cables that are to suspend a user or object, the cables to move and rotate relative to the marionette assembly and thereby provide three-dimensional movement and rotation of the user or object relative to the suspension structure;
- a harness that is attached to the user or object to facilitate attachment of the cables to the user or object, the harness to collect positional data of the user or object;
- a navigation controller to control at least one of the movement of the marionette assembly and cables to control movement of the user or object, the navigation controller to receive the positional data from the harness and thereby determine predictive movement of the user or object and control future movement.
A motion control system comprising:
- a marionette assembly comprising:
- a movable housing;
- a rotary component rotatably attached to the housing such that the rotary component rotates around an axis of the housing;
- a plurality of winches with cables, the plurality of winches attached to the rotary component to allow movement of the cables;
- a dampening mechanism to which the cables are functionally connected, the dampening mechanism to dampen or completely halt the movement of the cables;
- a controller to control the movement of the housing, rotary component, the plurality of winches with cables, and the dampening mechanism to provide a controlled movement of the marionette assembly;
- a harness that is worn by a user or attached to an object to facilitate attachment of the cables to the user or object, the harness to collect positional data of the user or object, the controller to receive the positional data from the harness to obtain predictive movement of the user or object and control the movement.
