Post sleeve assembly

A post sleeve formed in the ground to receive and support a post, the post sleeve comprising:

• a post sleeve top including a body of a rigid material that forms an upper portion of the post sleeve, the body including a post aperture extending axially completely through the body such that the post can extend completely through the body and extend beyond a lower end of the body, the post aperture forming a top portion of the post receiving cavity, and the body having an engagement feature near the lower end of the body;
• and
• a cured concrete base including a bottom portion of a post receiving cavity formed from a post sleeve core, the bottom portion of the post receiving cavity immediately adjacent to and continuous with the post aperture, the cured concrete base engaging with the engagement feature of the post sleeve top to rigidly lock the post sleeve top to the cured concrete base with the post aperture aligned with the bottom portion of the post receiving cavity.

A post sleeve formation system to assist in forming a post sleeve within a post hole in the ground, the post sleeve formation system comprising:

• a post sleeve top including a body of a rigid material that forms an upper portion of the post sleeve, the body including a post aperture extending axially completely through the body such that a post can extend completely through the body and extend beyond a lower end of the body, the post aperture defining an upper portion of a post receiving cavity to receive and support the post;
• and
• a post sleeve core positioned within the post sleeve top, the post sleeve core having an exterior surface sized and shaped to define a lower portion of the post receiving cavity of the post sleeve when the post sleeve core is removed from a cured concrete base of the post sleeve.
