Abstract
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods of sag in a power line. In an embodiment, a monitoring device may include a distance sensor and an operating parameter sensor. A processor of the monitoring device may acquire, via the distance sensor, a first distance measurement. The processor may acquire, via the operating parameter sensor, a first operating parameter measurement. The processor may provide an output signal indicating that the power line is sagging when a combination of the first distance measurement and the first operating parameter measurement exceed a first combined distance-operating parameter threshold.
Claims14
A non-transitory, computer readable medium comprising instructions, that when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations, comprising:
- receive operating parameter measurements of a first operating parameter of a power line over a period of time;
- determine that the power line is sagging based on a comparison of the operating parameter measurements to an operating parameter over-time threshold;
- provide an output signal indicating that the power line is sagging when the operating parameter measurements have exceeded the operating parameter over-time threshold over the period of time.
An electronic device configured to determine sag in a power line of a power delivery system, comprising:
- sensor circuitry configured to be positioned between a first structure and a second structure of the power line to detect an operating parameter of the power line, wherein the sensor circuitry is configured to be positioned closer to the first structure than a midpoint between the first structure and the second structure to allow the electronic device to detect a discharge event on the power line;
- a tilt angle sensor configured to detect a tilt angle of the electronic device
- memory;
- a processor operatively coupled to the memory, wherein the processor is configured to:
- receive one or more operating parameter measurements from the sensor circuitry;
- receive one or more tilt angle measurements from the tilt angle sensor;
- provide a first output signal when the one or more tilt angle measurements indicate that the power line is sagging and provide a second output signal when the one or more operating parameter measurements indicate that the discharge event has occurred.
An electronic device, comprising:
- an accelerometer coupled to a power line to detect acceleration of the power line;
- memory;
- and
- a processor operatively coupled to the memory, wherein the processor is configured to:
- receive acceleration measurements from the accelerometer;
- detect an acceleration event on the power line based on the acceleration measurements;
- and
- provide an output signal indicating that the acceleration event occurred.
