Abstract
A Time of Flight analyser comprising a flight tube (160) and a reflectron (170), wherein the reflectron comprises a stack of electrodes (172) that are compressed against the flight tube such that they remain parallel to each other under compression.
Claims25
A Time of Flight analyser comprising a flight tube and a reflectron, wherein the reflectron comprises a stack of electrodes that are compressed against the flight tube.
A Time of Flight analyser comprising a flight tube and a reflectron, wherein the reflectron is compressed against the flight tube.
A method of constructing a flight tube and reflectron for a Time of Flight analyser, the method comprising the steps of:
- (i) assembling a stack of electrodes to form a reflectron;
- and
- (ii) compressing the stack of electrodes against a flight tube.
A pusher assembly for a Time of Flight analyser, comprising:
- a pusher electrode configured to accelerate ions;
- and
- a double grid electrode configured to provide a field-free region.
A method of forming an electrode structure comprising two grid electrodes, the method comprising:
- applying adhesive to an upper surface and a lower surface of an annular member;
- winding a plurality of metal strands across and/or around the annular member so as to form two grid electrodes, one attached to the upper surface and the other attached to the lower surface;
- and
- allowing the adhesive to set and secure the metal strands in place.
An apparatus for introducing ions into a mass spectrometer, comprising:
- an ion inlet device configured to introduce an analyte sample or lock mass substance into a mass spectrometer;
- and
- a control system configured to switch between introducing the analyte sample and the lock mass substance during an analytical run.
A method of introducing ions into a mass spectrometer, comprising:
- introducing an analyte sample into the mass spectrometer;
- introducing a lock mass substance into the mass spectrometer;
- and
- switching between introducing the analyte sample and the lock mass substance into the mass spectrometer during an analytical run.
