System and method for resale of a right to occupy a vacated seat

A computerized method for authorizing access to a venue for an event while the event is in progress at a venue, comprises, using one or more computers:

• (a) electronically tracking a location of a ticket holder during the event using a geolocation system;
• (b) during step (a), and based on said step of electronically tracking, determining that the ticket holder is at the venue while the event is in progress;
• (c) during step (a), electronically determining a ticket type or seat location of the ticket holder and confirming that the ticket was validly issued and used for entry to the event by accessing a database that includes information regarding whether a ticket has been previously used for entry;
• (d) during step (a) and after step (b), and based on said step of electronically tracking, determining that the ticket holder is no longer at the event;
• (e) during step (a), and after step (b), electronically determining using the geolocation system, that there are third parties that are not in the venue and that are within a geographic proximity of the venue such that they can arrive at the venue before the conclusion of the event;
• (f) during step (a) and after step (d) and step (e), electronically offering for resale the right to occupy a previously vacated seat or space to the third parties;
• (g) electronically processing the resale of the right to occupy a previously vacated seat or space;
• (h) electronically transmitting to the third party that is not in the venue a ticket representing the resold right to occupy a previously vacated seat or space;
• (i) electronically transmitting to the venue a record of the ticket representing the resold right to occupy a previously vacated seat or space.
