Abstract
Systems, methods, and devices for automatically retrying a query. A method includes receiving a query directed to database data and assigning execution of the query to one or more execution nodes of a database platform. The method includes determining that execution of the query was unsuccessful. The method includes assigning a first retry execution of the query on the first version of the database platform and assigning a second retry execution of the query on a second version of the database platform.
Claims25
A method comprising:
- receiving, from a client, a query directed to database data stored on a database platform, the query being received by a first component of the database platform, the first component being configured to receive and make at least one attempt to execute queries from clients;
- making, by the first component, an attempt to execute the query;
- based on determining that the attempt to execute the query was unsuccessful, the first component sending a query retry job to a second component of the database platform, the second component being configured to manage internal operations of the database platform, the query retry job being associated with the query and indicating a version of the database platform on which the attempt to execute the query was made;
- selecting, by the second component based at least in part on the indicated version of the database platform, a version of the database platform on which to attempt a first retry attempt to execute the query;
- and
- making, by the second component, the first retry attempt to execute the query on the selected version of the database platform.
A database platform comprising:
- a first component configured to receive and make at least one attempt to execute queries from clients;
- a second component configured to manage internal operations of the database platform;
- at least one hardware processor;
- and
- one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media containing instructions that, when executed by the at least one hardware processor, cause the at least one hardware processor to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, by the first component from a client, a query directed to database data stored on the database platform;
- making, by the first component, an attempt to execute the query;
- based on determining that the attempt to execute the query was unsuccessful, the first component sending a query retry job to the second component, the query retry job being associated with the query and indicating a version of the database platform on which the attempt to execute the query was made;
- selecting, by the second component based at least in part on the indicated version of the database platform, a version of the database platform on which to attempt a first retry attempt to execute the query;
- and
- making, by the second component, the first retry attempt to execute the query on the selected version of the database platform.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media containing instructions that, when executed by at least one hardware processor, cause the at least one hardware processor to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, from a client, a query directed to database data stored on a database platform, the query being received by a first component of the database platform, the first component being configured to receive and make at least one attempt to execute queries from clients;
- making, by the first component, an attempt to execute the query;
- based on determining that the attempt to execute the query was unsuccessful, the first component sending a query retry job to a second component of the database platform, the second component being configured to manage internal operations of the database platform, the query retry job being associated with the query and indicating a version of the database platform on which the attempt to execute the query was made;
- selecting, by the second component based at least in part on the indicated version of the database platform, a version of the database platform on which to attempt a first retry attempt to execute the query;
- and
- making, by the second component, the first retry attempt to execute the query on the selected version of the database platform.
