Abstract
A storage device includes a nonvolatile memory device, and a controller that reads first data from the nonvolatile memory device. When a number of first errors of the first data is not smaller than a first threshold value, the controller determines whether the first errors include timing errors arising from a variation of signal transmission timings between the nonvolatile memory device and the controller and performs a retraining operation on the signal transmission timings when the first errors include the timing errors.
Claims19
A storage device, comprising:
- a nonvolatile memory device including a cell array and a page buffer;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- send first data to the page buffer in the nonvolatile memory device,
- read the first data in the page buffer at signal transmission timings trained according to a training operation,
- detect a number of first errors of the first data,
- compare the number of the first errors of the first data to a first threshold value to generate a comparison result,
- determine whether the first errors include timing errors arising from a variation of the signal transmission timings between the nonvolatile memory device and the controller based on the comparison result, and
- perform a retraining operation on the signal transmission timings if the first errors include the timing errors, wherein the first threshold value is greater than zero,
- wherein the controller is further configured to read the first data in the page buffer without programing in the cell array.
A storage device, comprising:
- a first nonvolatile memory devices, each including a cell array and a page buffer;
- a second nonvolatile memory devices, each including a cell array and a page buffer;
- and
- a controller coupled with the first nonvolatile memory devices through a first channel and coupled with the second nonvolatile memory devices through a second channel,
- wherein the controller is configured to:
- send first data to the page buffer in one of the first nonvolatile memory devices and the second nonvolatile memory devices,
- read the first data in the page buffer in one of the first nonvolatile memory devices and the second nonvolatile memory devices at signal transmission timings trained according to a training operation,
- detect a number of first errors of the first data,
- compare the number of the first errors of the first data to a first threshold value to generate a comparison result,
- determine whether the first errors include timing errors arising from a variation of the signal transmission timings between the controller and the one of the first nonvolatile memory devices and the second nonvolatile memory devices based on the comparison result, and
- perform a retraining operation on the signal transmission timings if the first errors include the timing errors, wherein the first threshold value is greater than zero.
A method of operating a storage device comprising a nonvolatile memory device and a controller, the method comprising:
- sending, by the controller, first data to the nonvolatile memory device;
- reading, by the controller, the first data from the nonvolatile memory device;
- detecting, by the controller, a number of first errors of the first data;
- comparing, by the controller, the number of the first errors of the first data to a first threshold value to generate a comparison result;
- determining, by the controller, whether the first errors include timing errors arising from a variation of the signal transmission timings between the nonvolatile memory device and the controller based on the comparison result;
- and
- performing a retraining operation on the signal transmission timings if the first errors include the timing errors,
- wherein the first threshold value is greater than zero, and
- wherein the controller prevent the first data being written in the nonvolatile memory device.
