Automated guided vehicle management system and method

An automated guided vehicle management method, comprising:

• managing a plurality of AGVs to be recharged by at least one wireless charging unit in a parking area for ensuring that the AGV leaving the parking area has a battery charge higher than a charge threshold;
• receiving tasks, wherein the task comprises information including at least one pick-up location, at least one drop-off location, a destination, and a due time,
• assigning the tasks to the AGVs tentatively;
• planning paths for the assigned AGVs, respectively, according to the information of the tentatively assigned tasks;
• examining whether the assigned AGV's battery is sufficient to carry out the task, wherein if the examining result is satisfied, the succeeding step is performed, and if the examining result is not satisfied, the assigned AGV is recharged, and the step of assigning the tasks to the AGVs tentatively is repeated;
• delaying assigning the task to the AGV if the AGV is expected to complete the task earlier than the due time of the task;
• and
• controlling the assigned AGV to arrive at the destination at the due time.
