Interbody cage and method of insertion

An intervertebral implant system comprising:

• an implantable device including a substantially planar superior surface adapted to rest against a superior vertebra, a substantially planar inferior surface adapted to rest against an inferior vertebra, two lateral sides, an anterior part at one end of the implantable device between the superior and inferior surfaces and a posterior part opposite the anterior part;
• and
• one mobile component rotatably mounted on the implantable device, being adapted to protrude from the substantially planar superior surface and substantially planar inferior surface of the implantable device to engage the superior and inferior vertebra to distract the space between said two vertebrae when axially rotated relative to the implantable device.

An intervertebral implant system comprising:

• an implantable device including a substantially planar superior surface adapted to rest against a superior vertebra, a substantially planar inferior surface adapted to rest against an inferior vertebra, an anterior part at one end of the implantable device between the superior and inferior surfaces and a posterior part opposite the anterior part;
• and
• one mobile component rotatably mounted on the implantable device to protrude from the anterior part of the implantable device, wherein said mobile component is adapted to engage the superior and inferior vertebrae to increase or reduce the space between said two vertebrae when the mobile component is axially rotated, and wherein the intervertebral implant system is arranged such that the mobile component may not be axially rotated up to 90° relative to the implantable device.

An intervertebral implant system comprising:

• an implantable device including a substantially planar superior surface adapted to rest against a superior vertebra, a substantially planar inferior surface adapted to rest against an inferior vertebra, an anterior part at one end of the implantable device between the superior and inferior surfaces and a posterior part opposite the anterior part;
• and
• one mobile component rotatably mounted on the implantable device, being adapted to protrude from one of the substantially planar superior surface of the implantable device to engage the superior vertebra, or of the substantially planar inferior surface of the implantable device to engage the inferior vertebra, to, when axially rotated relative to the implantable device, create a gap between said superior surface of the implantable device and the superior vertebra, or said inferior surface of the implantable device and the inferior vertebra, wherein said mobile component has anchoring means arranged on one of its surfaces.
