Abstract
A device and method for proportioning slices of fruit by slicing a piece of fruit into a number of slices using a endoskeletal slicing and coring device with twin-opposed coaxial upper and lower guide pins to positioning and holding the fruit, a coring tube for separating the fruit from the core, and a cassette for slicing the fruit and a proportioning device for separating the slices into a number of groups.
Claims20
A device comprising:
- twin-opposed coaxial upper and lower guide pins for positioning into a calyx and a stem hole of a fruit having a core, to hold the fruit;
- a coring tube operable relative to the guide pins for separating the fruit from the core;
- a cassette including one or more blades for slicing the fruit into slices, the blades as a group arranged in a circle and oriented normal to the circle and having a common center with the lower guide pin;
- a ram operable relative to the coring tube for force the fruit through the cassette blades;
- and a proportioning component coaxially positioned relative to the cassette, having a number of channels configured to separate the slices in groups having approximate equal weight.
2 more elements
A method for proportioning slices of fruit, the method comprising:
- slicing a piece of fruit into a number of slices using an endoskeletal or other slicing and coring device;
- and separating the slices into a number of groups using a proportioning device, wherein each of the groups comprises slices taken at fixed intervals around the center of the sliced fruit, and wherein based on the fixed intervals of selected slices, each group meets an equal minimum weight requirement.
