## Abstract

An antenna assembly comprising a base, a modem, a top lid and a housing is disclosed herein. The base is composed of an aluminum material. The modem is disposed on the base. The top lid is for the base, and the top lid comprises at least one antenna element disposed on an exterior surface. The housing covers the top lid and base. The top lid acts as an electro-magnetic barrier for the modem. A communication cable is connected to the modem at one end and extending to and connected to a vehicle internal router with a vehicle modem at the other end.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An antenna assembly comprising:
a base composed of an aluminum material, the base comprising a body, an interior surface, a sidewall and a plurality of heat dissipation elements extending from the interior surface;
a modem disposed within the base and on the plurality of heat dissipation elements, the modem comprising at least one of a communication chip, a Global Navigation Satellite System (“GNSS”) reception component, a security access module, or a mobile phone communication component;
a top lid for the base, the top lid comprising at least one antenna element disposed on an exterior surface of the top lid;
a housing covering the top lid and base;
a communication cable connected to the modem at one end and configured to connect to a vehicle internal router at an opposite end;
wherein the top lid and the base act as an electro-magnetic barrier for the modem;
wherein a connection from the vehicle internal router to the modem by the communication cable allows the modem to be located remotely from the vehicle internal router and closer to the at least one antenna element to reduce a connection length from the at least one antenna element to the modem.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein a communication protocol is a 5G communication protocol.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein the vehicle internal router is located within a vehicle.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein the base is composed of a die-cast aluminum material.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein the top lid comprises a base circuit board.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein the top lid comprises a cell circuit board.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein the top lid comprises a WiFi circuit board.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein the top lid comprises a GPS/GLONASS module.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein the base has a width ranging from 2.5 inches to 3.5 inches, and a length ranging from 6.0 inches to 8.0 inches.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The antenna assembly according to claim 1 wherein the base has a height ranging from 0.5 inch to 1.0 inch.

### Claim 11

A wireless communication assembly for a vehicle comprising:
a base composed of an aluminum material, the base comprising a body, an interior surface, a sidewall and a plurality of heat dissipation elements extending from the interior surface;
a modem disposed within the base and on the plurality of heat dissipation elements, the modem comprising at least one of a communication chip, a a Global Navigation Satellite System (“GNSS”) reception component, a security access module, or a mobile phone communication component;
a top lid for the base, the top lid comprising at least one antenna element disposed on an exterior surface;
a housing covering the top lid and base;
a communication cable connected to the modem at one end and configured to connect to a vehicle internal router at an opposite end;
wherein the top lid and the base act as an electro-magnetic barrier for the modem;
wherein a connection from the vehicle internal router to the modem by the communication cable allows the modem to be located remotely from the vehicle internal router and closer to the at least one antenna element to reduce a connection length from the at least one antenna element to the modem.
