The invention relates to a connecting element (10) for connecting at least two profile elements (100, 200), wherein the connecting element (10) is rotatable about an axis of rotation (D) to produce a clamping force, wherein the connecting element (10) has at least one first connecting section (12) and at least one second connecting section (14), which are each designed to be received in one of the profile elements (100, 200), wherein the first connecting section (12) has at least one first clamping face (20, 22), wherein the at least one first clamping face (20, 22) is designed with a predetermined clamping contour (KK1), wherein the second connecting section (14) has at least one second clamping face (24, 74), wherein the first clamping face (20, 22) faces the second connecting section (14) and the second clamping face (24, 74) faces the first connecting section (12), wherein the first connecting section (12) and the second connecting section (14) are formed in such a way that the profile elements (100, 200) connected by means of the connecting element (10) extend obliquely relative to each other or crosswise.

The connecting element (10) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the at least one first clamping face (20, 22) and the at least one second clamping face (24) form between them at least one clamping channel (K1, K2) for clamping a portion of one of the profile elements (100, 200).
The connecting element (10) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the second connecting portion (14) has at least one support face (26, 28) which is configured to support the second connecting portion (14) at the reception (102) of one of the profile elements (100, 200).
The connecting element (10) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the second clamping face (24, 74) of the second connecting portion (14) is is configured with a predetermined clamping contour (KK2).
The connecting element (10) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the clamping contour (KK1) of the at least one first clamping face (20, 22) of the first connecting portion (12) and/or the clamping contour (KK2) of the at least one second clamping face of the second connecting portion (14) have a bend and/or an undercut.
