Abstract
A gas turbine engine article includes a substrate and an environmental barrier coating disposed on the substrate. The environmental barrier coating includes oxygen-scavenging particles. Each oxygen-scavenging particle includes a silicon-containing core particle encased in an oxygen barrier shell.
Claims19
A gas turbine engine article comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- an environmental barrier coating disposed on the substrate, the environmental barrier coating including oxygen-scavenging particles, each said oxygen-scavenging particle including a silicon-containing core particle encased in an oxygen barrier shell.
A method of fabricating a gas turbine engine article, the method comprising:
- providing a substrate and oxygen-scavenging particles, wherein each said oxygen-scavenging particle includes a silicon-containing core particle encased in an oxygen barrier shell;
- and
- depositing the oxygen-scavenging particles on the substrate to form an environmental barrier coating.
